Atlantic City to Host Energy Fair

Atlantic City will host a public energy fair Oct. 16, focused on ways people can improve their energy efficiency, as well as the city’s efforts to do the same.

The Energy Fair for Absecon Island will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Atlantic Cape Community College, 1535 Bacharach Blvd. The fair is sponsored by Atlantic City’s Green Team.

Attending will be representatives from Atlantic City Electric, South Jersey Gas, Home Depot and the New Jersey Clean Energy Program, which offers offers financial incentives to support energy efficiency.

Attendees can learn about low-energy technologies, and grants and loans for residents and businesses seeking to cut energy use. Reduced-price LED lighting will be on sale.

Ventnor, Margate and Atlantic City are three of 50 cities competing for the Georgetown University Energy Prize, a $5 million award to be given out in 2017 to the town that most effectively cuts the amount of energy used per resident.

DCO Energy has given the city a plan to reduce the energy used by its municipal buildings. Proposal details will be available.
