Resorts Atlantic City

DCO Energy, LLC has virtually reconstructed the thermal production facilities for Resorts Atlantic City on behalf of the owner, Marina Energy. Resorts, one of the original casino locations in Atlantic City, had exceeded the useful life of much of its production equipment and had not modernized or updated the internal distribution systems for quite some time.

DCO has replaced all of the required chilling capacity, added variable frequency drives to chillers, pumps and cooling towers, and has completely updated the monitoring and control systems. It is expected that efficiency and available capacity will be greatly improved. DCO will be operating the facility based on the 20-year contractual agreement now in place.

Resorts Atlantic City has now begun the expansion of the property with the construction of a new 500-room hotel tower, which is included in the contract for thermal services. With the addition of new capacity for the expansion, much of the old distribution system, including three way valves, will be improved and replaced with new equipment.

This project is an excellent example of using outsourcing to an advantage. Resorts has benefited by leveraging the knowledge and experience of DCO, transferring risk to an energy provider and dedicating it’s own capital to property expansion while the energy provider made all of the plant and system improvements.
