54 MW Electricity

Constellation Energy and  Procter  &  Gamble  have  partnered  to build  a  54 MW  biomass fueled cogeneration facility on the P&G Family Care Division manufacturing plant site in Albany, GA. DCO Energy was EPC contractor selected for this project.

The biomass energy project will be designed as a combined heat and power facility which will provide Procter & Gamble’s Albany Family Care plant with 425,000 pounds per hour of process steam at the same time that 350,000 megawatt hours of baseload renewable electricity is being generated and purchased by Georgia Power. The Project has evaluated alternative boiler technologies, and will utilize a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler that will deliver 690,000 lb/hr of steam at 1545 psig and 950 ˚F to a turbine generator.  The turbine generator will be specified to produce 54 gross MW and will provide 425,000 pounds of process steam at 200 psig from turbine extraction to P&G.

The project was completed in July 2017.
