ACUA Landfill Gas to Energy Project

The project utilizes landfill gas to fuel a reciprocating engine generator set that produces electric power. DCO has provided business development, project development, project management, and construction management services.  This energy project conforms to the requirements of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities’ Renewable Energy Advanced Program.

The initial 1.6Mw unit is producing approximately 11,000,000 Kwh of electric energy. Approximately 2,000,000 Kwh is sold to the ACUA.  The remaining 9,000,000 Kwh is sold to the electric wholesale market through the PJM Power Pool.  This site is designed for a total installed capacity of 6.4 MW.

The cost of designing and constructing the project is 2.7 Million.  DCO personnel are operating and maintaining the project.  DCO also is responsible for operating and maintaining the gas collection and control system under a separate contract with ACUA.
