Marina Thermal Facility
The Marina Thermal Facility is a Greenfield Development Project. Marina Energy, as owner, and DCO Energy, as the Developer and Operator, are developing and financing the project as an off-site Central Utility Plant, which will serve the expanding Casino Industry in Atlantic City, NJ. This energy project emphasizes the long-term vision of creating, in phases, a district heating and cooling system that will service the Renaissance Pointe area of Atlantic City.
The Marina Thermal Facility is located adjacent to the site of the most aggressive new development in the region. Chilled water, hot water, and emergency power generated by the plant will be delivered to casino customers for cooling, heating, domestic hot water, and back-up power requirements.
The plant is designed to have a ultimate capacity of 25,000 tons of cooling, 350,000 dt/hr of high temperature hot water production, and 8 MW of emergency power generation. It will be capable of serving three casinos, one which is currently under construction and planned to open mid 2003.
The cost of designing and constructing the Marina Thermal Facility, including the underground distribution system, is approximately $44 Million.
