DCO Energy, LLC designed, built, operates and markets power from a Landfill Gas to Energy Facility that utilizes methane collected from the landfill in Burlington County. Located on the Burlington County Resource Recovery Complex Site, the Energy Generating Plant (EGP) includes the fuel supply compression and treatment equipment, and electrical generation equipment necessary to comprise a fully operational plant.
The EGP contains five Jenbacher model JGS 420 landfill gas fueled reciprocating engine-generator sets, each rated for continuous duty at the rate 1425 kW output. The EGP also contains high voltage electrical distribution equipment and all related subsystems designed to produce 7.1 MW's of electric power. Most of the generated power is sold to the electric grid, but it also supplies some of the electric energy required by the site.
Each engine is designed to run on only landfill gas fuel to increase the system pressure and the engines include a gas booster/compressor as part of the gas treatment system. The facility is provided with a Siloxane treatment system, which utilizes an activated carbon process to reduce the level of Siloxane contamination, which results in reduced engine maintenance costs. The gas treatment system is connected to an existing underground header, which is connected to the existing collection system at the site. The gas treatment system is designed to compress, clean and deliver 250SCFM of filtered dry landfill gas to the five engine generators.
